Mason Diaz Set for Snowflake 100 Return

MANASSAS, VA – After winning a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track championship and making his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, there’s just one thing left for Mason Diaz to do in 2017 – score a victory at Five Flags Speedway.

The 17-year-old from Manassas, Virginia is heading back to Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida to compete in Saturday night’s Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100.  Last season, he made the field for the race and finished in the top-10 in his first appearance at the race.  Now, with more experience and on the heels of a breakthrough season, Diaz wants more.

“I have gained a lot of experience and learned a lot since last year’s Snowflake,” Diaz said.  “We raced over 30 races this year in a full-size car and we are going to approach this weekend just like any other race.”

Saturday night’s 100-lap Pro Late Model race will be the final race of the season for Diaz.  After a stressful season of chasing wins and points, Diaz is looking forward to having a little more fun while racing for a win.

“We had a stressful this year with going points racing, so my goal for this weekend is to have fun,” Diaz remarked.  “We’re looking forward to this week down in Pensacola.  It’s going to be fun.”

Diaz has had success in his Pro Late Model this season.  He won a Fast Five Pro Late Model Series race at Southern National Motorsports Park and won Rookie of the Year in Florida for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series as a result of his performances at New Smyrna Speedway in February.
